Roy Hersh review:
Deeper amber color than the 10.
Love the aromatics here, panoply of maple, almond, dried date and fresh herbs. Medium+ body weight with similar viscosity to the 10-year-old white, except this has more of a creamy texture. The acidity is slightly sharper, a cleansing presence which is great because this Enólogo is rather sweet at 147 grams per liter of RS. Yowza! Yet it still manages to exude freshness and balance, in spades. There’s definitely a commonality between this and the 10-year-old. I tried this in the Douro, after this initial tasting and found there was more sweetness, the acidity a drop more precise, that creaminess was omnipresent, but it seemed more delicate in the mouth. Flavors here tend towards hazelnut, light toasted notes along with a pleasing mix of citrus and tropical fruits. Overall, it is what my friends call: “a slurpy Port” meaning it is very easy to drink and has
a great rich texture. The finish is as long as the 10 was, which is saying a lot. Another beauty!
