Fine/Reserve Ruby
After little or no barrel aging, the wine is bottled as Ruby. The wine retains its clear red color and the taste evokes fresh fruits and red berries. Perfect as an everyday wine. Learn more about Ruby Port wine at the bottom of the page here.

Enjoy a Good Ruby Port Wine
A Ruby is a young Port wine with almost no barrel aging. The wine is filtered just before being bottled and therefore does not develop further in the bottle. This means the wine is best enjoyed within a reasonable time after bottling — both to avoid it going bad and because there is no benefit to waiting, as the wine won’t improve.
Ruby is often a blend of several very young vintages. Second only to Rosé, Fine Ruby is the youngest type of Port. Ruby also comes in a higher quality called Ruby Reserva. Only the Port Wine Institute determines what the wine can be sold as after it has been analyzed.
The Taste of Ruby Port Wine
This Port wine has a beautiful red color, not too dark. Ruby is the classic everyday Port, as it is easy to drink. The good flavor comes from the wine's youthful age and it is reminiscent of cherries, currants, blackberries, cranberries, and other red fruits and berries. The wine is also fresh and not as dense as either Vintage or LBV, making it ideal for everyday drinking, where you might not need something that is a full meal in itself.
Ruby pairs really well with light cheeses and various sausages. We’ve had great success pairing it with rice pudding on Christmas Eve, as its freshness and berry flavor complement this dessert perfectly.
