Adega de Favaios
A port wine house that, in addition to producing port wine, has specialized in crafting Moscatel wines. These wines are made exclusively from Moscatel grapes and are produced using the same method as port wine, allowing them to retain their sweetness and achieve a high alcohol content.
However, due to various regulations, they are not allowed to label it as port wine.

Adega de Favaios has deep historical roots, with its name originating from "Flavius," an ancient Roman emperor. It is a cooperative that excels in supporting small winegrowers by purchasing their grapes, ensuring that everyone in the region benefits economically from their vineyard efforts, regardless of size.
Adega de Favaios operates under the control of the IVDP (Port Wine Institute) and offers a wide range of wines, including traditional port (though not in large quantities), red, white, and several varieties of sparkling wine. However, they are best known for their legendary Moscatel de Favaios.
Like port, Moscatel wines are fortified, meaning the fermentation process is halted early, resulting in a very sweet and aromatic wine. What sets them apart from port is that they are made exclusively from Moscatel grapes. Favaios Moscatel wines have a slightly lower alcohol content than port, typically around 17%. As with port wine, these Moscatel wines come in many different varieties.
