Vieira de Sousa
Luisa Borges expertly manages this winery with a skilled hand. Her specialty is undoubtedly her ruby-style wines, which are both ready to drink at a young age, offering plenty of tannins that are well-balanced with natural fruit sugars. At the same time, they possess depth and complexity, giving them great potential for bottle aging.

The Vieira de Sousa family has played a significant role in the history of the Douro region by producing port wine for many years. For five generations, the family has supplied grapes to other port wine companies, much like many small farms in the Douro Valley. With 60 hectares of vineyards along the Douro River, they cultivate some of the finest grapes for port wine production. Tradition and quality are the key elements in preserving the legacy of traditional port wine making.
A few years ago, the family decided to start bottling their own port wine and selling it under their own brand: Vieira de Sousa. Luisa Vieira de Sousa Borges represents the fifth generation leading the family's port wine production, with her first vintage released in 2008. She is the youngest woman at the forefront of port wine production in the Douro and an excellent example of the modern approach to port wine.
Her wines are classically rich and highly complex, yet always finish with a crisp touch on the palate. As a result, Luisa’s port wines are fresh and vibrant, and in recent years, she has rightfully earned strong reviews and multiple awards.
