Tawny Ports
Tawny refers to all barrel-aged port wines, and the often long barrel aging gives Tawny its distinctive character. Port wine can age in barrels for 100 years without going bad, and producers take advantage of this to create wines with incredible complexity and depth. Tawny port is either a blend of several vintages that together provide the ideal combination to satisfy the palate (10 to +50 years) or from a single vintage with its distinct characteristics (Colheita).
